Fatou Warka launched the online television channel WarkhaTV in 2018. At 30 years old she is a social media pioneer in Senegal. Her goal is to change attitudes and laws. Last year she directed a series of 16 testimonies denouncing violence against Senegalese women. To give voice to those who have for generations, kept silent. 16 voices, 16 victims: "He raped me when I was 13 years old, he caused me a great deal of pain, I cannot even describe it." "When I arrived I saw two perpetrators surrounding a young girl, she was not even 10 years old, they were raping her." Shared widely, this video has galvanized public opinion. To the extent that a vote criminalizing rape was put into law last January 10th. Moreover, Warkha TV approaches other societal issues. Fatou Warkha's fight has not ended. She wants to give a face and voice to everyone who has been forgotten by the authorities. (Translation from French)
