FICINE, is a space for teaching, learning and critical inquiry on global cinema, photography and audiovisual production that has black cinemas, cultures and experiences as its point of departure. With black women at the helm, Janaína Damasceno, Janaína Oliveira, Kênia Freitas and Tatiana Carvalho Costa, their multifold interest is cinema, criticism, academic discourse and audience building, beyond mere illustrations or allegories about black histories and cultures, African/diasporic world cultures, rather about deepening the debates about cinemas, in an attempt to probe the myriad issues of cinema.
