My name is Rosine Mbakam, from Cameroon where I grew up and lived until 27 years old according to tradition. In 2007, I left to continue my studies in Belgium. It was the first time leaving my country. My mother’s name is Mâ Brêh in Bamiléké, she has always lived in Cameroon. She grew up in the maquis where her family, as many others, fled French colonial repression. She was married at 18 years old to a man introduced to her by her parents. The film is a face-to-face that examines and and poses questions regarding the choices of two women. Two generations face-to-face, two women who share their intimate selves, their pain, their desires.

The film recounts the return of a young woman to her native country, Cameroon. A reunion with her mother, a reunion constructed around the revisited spaces of their two lives. Two different journeys that intersect around traditions that are underpin their two personalities. In search of buried sentiments, histories, her history. Giving life to latent voices in the silence, illuminating the faces of women in her community that formed her, in which the other colors of their faces emerge.
