Synopsis

Indigo is the colour blue of the aura given by a psychic to children endowed with clairvoyance or hypersensitivity. In the film, Nora, a 13-year-old pre-adolescent, is confronted with violence and the world of the irrational. Her entourage is disturbed by her visions but seems indifferent to her suffering. Indigo tells the initiatory journey of this child in search of her own truth. (From an interview with Selma Bargach by Beti Ellerson)

Indigo, c’est la couleur bleue de l’aura donnée par un médium à des enfants doués de clairvoyance ou d’hyper sensibilité. Dans le film, Nora, une préadolescente de 13 ans, est confrontée à la violence et au monde de l’irrationnel. Son entourage est perturbé par ses visions mais semble indifférent à sa souffrance. Indigo raconte le parcours initiatique de cet enfant à la recherche de sa propre vérité. (D’entretien avec Selma Bargach by Beti Ellerson)

Biography | Biographie

After a year of architecture, Selma Bargach preferred to study the visual arts and cinema. The 7th art became a passion with the realisation of several short films in super 8mm. Encouraged by her professors to pursue a doctorate, allowed her to discover Moroccan cinema and to meet several directors. At the same time, she did an editing internship at Antenne 2, and in addition created an association on Maghreb arts with the late Mansour Abrousa. She ultimately returned to Morocco to work for the foundation ONA as head of the audio-visual segment. She worked as an intern, and then as first assistant director, directing several short films in 35mm. Her first feature film, Fifth String (2011), which travelled around the world, won several awards. Indigo is her second feature film.

Après une année d’architecture, Selma Bargach a préféré étudier les arts plastiques et le cinéma. Le 7ème art est devenu une passion avec la réalisation de plusieurs courts métrages en super 8mm. Ses professeurs l’ont poussé à faire un doctorat, ce qui l’a permis de découvrir le cinéma marocain et de rencontrer plusieurs réalisateurs. Elle a effectué dans le même temps un stage de montage à antenne 2 et créée en parallèle une association sur les arts du Maghreb avec le regretté Mansour Abrous. Elle est finalement rentrée au Maroc pour travailler à la fondation de l’ONA en tant que responsable audiovisuel. Elle a commence comme stagiaire, puis première assistante réalisateur et réalisé à nouveau des courts métrages en 35mm. Son premier long métrage, La 5ème corde (2011), qui a voyagé à travers le monde, a obtenu plusieurs prix. Indigo est son second long métrage.
