Eliaichi Kimaro: Tracing her Tanzanian roots in "A Lot Like You"

In the 2 August 2012 NPR/National Public Radio interview with Michel Martin, Eliaichi Kimaro talks about her documentary A Lot Like You. "There's something that's very, very powerful and very primal about the desire to connect with people through story, which is why I love the title of our film, A Lot Like You. I came to see a lot of myself in my aunts when I wasn't expecting to. I came to see a lot of myself in my dad in ways that were surprising to me."

Filmmaker Eliaichi Kimaro, a first-generation American of a Tanzanian father and Korean mother, both economists, tells a personal history tracing her Tanzanian roots. Upon retirement, her father returns to Tanzania; she follows him with her camera discovering a side of the family she knew little about.
